Marty Woody, who probably knows more about Toyota automobiles and trucks than anyone else in Chattanooga, has told the story to his close friends so perhaps you need to hear it, too. When the nation's new media sensationalized the fact the huge auto maker recalled almost a million vehicles earlier this year, he saw about 3,000 of them come to Capital Toyota.
Marty is the service manager at the Lee Highway dealership and…

The 2010 Toyota Camry is the top selling car from the company in the first half of 2010. Sales this calendar year of the Camry…

Toyota To Create Electric Supercar

By the year 2015, Toyota has its sight set on a line up of "EV Supercars" - sportscars built around electric powerplants.

For now, the plans from Toyota are to have a 500 horsepower car that is totally gas free - creating the first of many eco-friendly roadsters, competing with the likes of Tesla vehicles. Of course, "competing" might not be the best term, as Toyota & Tesla Motors are now partners.

Tesla, which has recently inked a…

Will Toyota’s Hilux Defeat The South Pole?

Toyota Hilux - the mightiest truck to ever take on a North Pole expedition, travels to the other side of the globe to battle it out with sub-zero degree weather and harsh terrain in the land of ice and penguins - the South Pole.

The legendary pick-up has completed a journey across Antarctica to the South Pole, further proving the go-anywhere qualities that helped it become the first car to be driven to the Magnetic North Pole?

So many parts for Detroit maker's pickup trucks are made overseas that they hardly can be considered all-American vehicles, Cars.com finds.

And the shocking choice as most American of all vehicles for the second year in a row? It's the Toyota Camry, the web site says, even though the profits from its sale flow back to Japan. It is followed by another Japanese model, the Honda Accord.

Cars.com compiles an annual…

Sincerely, Nolan Ryan

About 18 years ago, when Marty Woody and his precious wife Connie were blessed with a handsome baby boy, they decided to name the child for Nolan Ryan, at the time one of the best pitchers - and finest people - in all of major league baseball. It isn't a stretch to say that a lot has happened to both Nolans since then.

The elder ended up playing 27 seasons in the majors, his "express" of…

‘Top Safety Pick’

Two More Toyota Vehicles Earn 2010 'Top Safety Pick' Award

Based in part on the new rollover test results of midsize SUVs, the 2010 Toyota Highlander and Venza have been designated "Top Safety Picks" by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the institute announced today.  Toyota now has more "Top Safety Pick" vehicles this year than any other manufacturer.

To achieve this designation, a vehicle has to earn the top rating of "good" for occupant protection in the institute's front, side, rear and rollover crash tests.  It also has to have electronic stability control.

The institute tested 12 midsize SUVs of various brands. Six, including Highlander and Venza (the only Toyotas evaluated), earned the top rating of "good" for rollover protection, one was rated "acceptable" and five others received the second lowest rating of "marginal."

In its press release, the institute said, "New test results show that some automakers are doing a good job of designing vehicle roofs that perform much better than current federal rollover standards require."

Highlander and Venza join five other Toyota and Lexus vehicles that have earned the "Top Safety Pick" designation based in part on the new rollover test results.  On May 25, the institute announced that the 2011 Toyota Avalon and Sienna and 2010 Lexus RX had earned the designation.  The 2010 Toyota Corolla and Scion xB were designated "Top Safety Picks" in March.
